Frontline communication, in partnership with Guy’s Cancer Academy, are pleased to offer a new blended Advanced Communications Skills Training (ACST) course.

Course overview

This new blended course will empowers you to develop new communication models, skills and behaviours. Drawing upon real-life examples from your practice, we'll use role play with professional actors to rehearse and reflect upon challenging conversations. By the end of this module you will be able to:

  • Review evidence-based skills and principles for effective communication.
  • Discuss challenges such as breaking bad news, advanced care planning, handling anger or distress, challenging colleagues.
  • Practice key skills and principles to specific contexts, receive constructive feedback and test out alternative strategies.
  • Identify communication strategies that can be transferred to any interpersonal or professional context.

Who this course is for

This online course has been designed for senior health care professionals (band 6 and above) working in cancer settings, including:

  • Nurses
  • Allied health professionals
  • Medical and surgical professionals

Blended learning

This course is blended and comprises of:

  • 3 hours self-paced online learning to be completed in your own time before the live sessions.
  • A 20 minute one-to-one Zoom session with a course facilitator to discuss your learning objectives and complete a role play exercise.
  • x2 one day live Zoom workshops (approximately 5 hours per day).

Fees

Course fees are £775 per person. This covers all the components mentioned above.

Application dates

Please note the dates below are for the 2 day live Zoom workshops and the 3 hour online learning will commence the month prior to these workshop dates. Study Leave is required for these workshops.
